Confirmed from Gary Halter Nature Center's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Relaxed, woodland preserve with nature programs, walking trails and birdhouses.
What runners say about Gary Halter Nature Center
“The walking trails are well kept and clean.”
A great walk in nature and children's nature center. Don't forget and borrow a child's backpack with binoculars, a butterfly net, a plastic bug box and more, just leave your driver's license until you return the backpack.
Took my grands hiking last Monday. We had a wonderful hike made even better by a young man called Mr. Patrick! We ran into him a few times on the trail, he is employed by the park. He explained some of his job to the kids, they thought he was so cool. Will my middle grand started searching the trails for Mr.
The walking trails are well kept and clean. There is plenty to learn and discover for little ones. I can also get a jogging stroller down the trails easily, so that is an added plus.
Great spot with plenty of trails. Many people have their dogs (leashed), so know that if you have poorly socialized dogs like my own.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
