Confirmed from Getchell Trail Head's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Getchell Trail Head

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (210 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🌳 shaded & cool 3 mentions

“During the summer there is a decent amount of shade.”

I walked about two miles south from this trailhead & back again. The pier on the lake was a lovely place to stop, and had a nice bench. There is a portypotty at the getchell trailhead & another at the lake access -- very convenient!

Easy n peaceful trail. I just did few miles but i like it so much. Totally fine for kids n bikes. There are some parking spots although that snot enough.

★★★★★ — Arash , Jul 2021

The parking lot is not paved but when I was there, many parking spots were available. I then walked south for 30 minutes and back again. There are plenty of trees for shade. Lots of birds. If you walk far enough, you won't hear noise from traffic. There were a lot of people biking, so be aware of your surroundings.

Nice paved walking trail in either direction here. Some shade, some sun. DON'T LEAVE ANY VALUABLES IN YOUR CAR. My cousin had a window break-in there. Lets of trees down from the last storm. They have been sawed up and are off the trail but give a dramatic idea of what a windstorm can do.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
