Confirmed from Glacier Knoll's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Glacier Knoll

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (129 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 4 mentions

“Great for a small picnic, very clean, and well maintained!”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“This is beautiful to relax and take in nature.”

quiet, winter wet and still, very few visitors, natural habitat that one wishes were connected upon endless miles unbroken but alongside farms and housing developments.

★★★★★ — John , Jan 2021

Like most Metroparks, it appears well-maintained. The walking paths are either paved or wide mowed grass, and they are easy level surfaces. There are no dirt/rugged hiking trails here, but it's a pleasant enough place to go for a stroll.

★★★★☆ — D , Feb 2025

This park really used to be a bit boring, but over the last few years, with the added trails they've put in, it's quickly become one of my more enjoyable parks.

★★★★☆ — Stephen , Dec 2021

Today was my first time at this park. I came here for a family cookout. I the parks trail and all the ponds. This is a great park.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 9 mentions

“It has plenty of parking, restrooms, a shelter house, an exercise area, and an observation platform that gives you some really nice views.”

  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
