Confirmed from Grace Dunne Richardson Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Amenities include a playground, dog park, trail access & areas for soccer, volleyball & basketball.
What runners say about Grace Dunne Richardson Park
“This beautiful crisp morning was our first time to enjoy the park.”
“There's lots of shade here and water fountains for dogs and humans.”
“And don't forget about the peaceful azalea trail!”
Beautiful park away from the road! They have a gazebo, pavilion and a playground, as well as bathrooms on site. And don't forget about the peaceful azalea trail! We had our engagement photos taken here and I loved how they turned out! (Thanks Blue Media Photography!)
Only 4 stars because I don't see a bathroom nearby for humans. I'm on a road trip and this is our 1st stop. In my area of Houston, the little dog side never gets anything interesting, this one has a small tunnel and a small A-Frame. The big dog side has lots of running room but only a small dog seesaw.
Park is a bit run down but overall it serves its purpose. The play area for the kiddos has been updated some. Bathroom is rough but kind of what you would expect. Short visit but not bad. Lots of walking trails and areas.
One of the better parks in Lufkin for walking, running laps, and outdoor sports like frisbee, karate, etc. The park is also next to a dog park.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadrestrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
