Confirmed from Grady Road Trailhead - Silver Comet Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Grady Road Trailhead - Silver Comet Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (15 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

An hour of driving from where I normally go to get here. I wanted a new scenery. Less number of people out here. It is fine for me. This part of the trail got some serious hills out here. Seriously! I forgot to mention...

Heading west from Grady Rd you will immediately be met with subpar smell from the adjacent landfill. You will have a manageable incline. The incline will be intermittent and will shortly turn into a steady descent. Roughly 5 miles to the Cedartown Trailhead. Good views. Only a few road crossings.

Park & ride your bike towards Cedartown for the hilliest part of The Comet. A mere 14 miles to Cedartown & around 10 more gets you to the start of The Chief Ladiga Trail.#thesilvercomettrail#chiefladigatrail #kyroadcyclist

There's a free parking lot here. And I believe a port o potty. As you head toward Cedartown immediately, there's a steep hill call Cory's Hill or surprise hill. There are several more hills until you get to Cedartown. Then, it flattens put again and is more like typical rail trail. It's about a 5 mile stretch of hills.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
