Confirmed from Grimes Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park offering open lawn areas, a tennis court, a playground, a gazebo & a half-mile walking track.
What runners say about Grimes Park
“Nice, clean park with walking gravel track, small playground for children, big well kept grass fields.”
“A great park for walk and jog.”
“Grimes Park is a very quiet peaceful place to exercise or just relax.”
Grimes is a beautiful park in a decent neighborhood. It is sort of a hidden gem as it is not seen from the road. Many older adults and others from the surrounding neighborhood take their walks here. It is clean and open with a picnic table and playground. The walking path is gravel, but it is even.
We had a really nice time at Grimes Park yesterday. The play area was shaded so the kids can play without worrying about the uv rays. My only gripe are the mosquitos...if you are going make sure you put some off on you and the kids. Otherwise the park is really nice. It even has a fitness trail for walking/jogging.
Best place to get a workout, walk, play tennis, throw a frisbee or just enjoy a comfortable naturalistic view. The kids have a playground and it is a good neighborhood. You can feel safe, that is the plus.
Beautful nature views! 😉 Update: DONT walk on the trail in the woods beside the walking trail. Seems to be homless people camp and they skinned a poor cat and left it.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceCrushed gravel — the rail-trail classic: softer than asphalt, still smooth enough for tempo work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadrestrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
