Confirmed from Grizzly Island Wildlife Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Rustic wildlife refuge offering bird-watching, fishing, hiking, nature tours & other activities.
What runners say about Grizzly Island Wildlife Area
“Great place to get out and enjoy the beautiful wetlands of Northern CA.”
We went here for a family hike and was very pleased to find such an abundance of wildlife. I wish there were more signage for hiking areas, or maps letting us know where it is safe to walk. So, we stayed in the car most of our time there and took most of our photos from the car. Great for photography too!!!
Spectacular place! So many amazing things to see and explore! It loses a star because it is not very ADA friendly. Parking lots are few and far between and far away from where you will often want to be to photograph the owls or elk, so be prepared to park and hike back quite a ways. There is also a large flock?
I took my motorcycle up there and had a nice ride. Besides that there seemed to be a lot of fishing going on. It would be nice if there were more paths for a nice day worth of hiking.
Great place to get out and enjoy the beautiful wetlands of Northern CA. Love it when it’s cool weather! Miles and miles of nature!

“However, they have bathrooms there, 3-4 covered tables with garbage cans, and a sweet dock with benches, pole holders and garbage cans!”

- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
