Confirmed from Groton Town Forest's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park, forest with a river featuring hiking and biking trails, plus dog-friendly paths.

. Great place to walk, jog, bike, xcountry ski, snow shoe, and more. Ups and downs, wide and narrow, ponds and wetlands. Be sure to download a map of the forest.
Heaven for dogs and their people! A nice 20 minute walk on a beautiful, flat path. You can always find many off-leash dogs for your pup to play with. There is also a big field for them to romp in, and a river for swimming.
Town forest side has a complex of single track trails that are great for mountain biking and trail running. The other side across the river called the Groton Hunt is a great place to brings dogs.
Great for a short hike. We bumped into only one other hiker during our 2 hour journey. Is a beautiful coniferous and deciduous forest.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
