Confirmed from Guilford Salt Meadows Sanctuary Ann Connover Nature Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Guilford Salt Meadows Sanctuary Ann Connover Nature Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (12 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“This is the most beautiful hiking trail in Guilford.”

This is the most beautiful hiking trail in Guilford. It is unlike any other and the other reviews don’t give it justice so I figured I would give an obnoxiously detailed one. I went here with my dad looking for an easy and new hike. He has lived here almost his whole life so we are a little tired of the usual trails.

This is hard to find - they don't advertise it. You drive to the end of the road off Clapboard Hill and park by the field just before the last house. It's best to go when the wind is from the North - route 95 can sound loud on a Southerly breeze.

A nice quiet walk along the river and salt marsh. It's an easy walk, there are some sections with some roots and a few steps up and down. Overall it's good for families and older folks. Lots of informational signs for those of us who like to read them.

Great spot for a quick hike and lots of wildlife. Finding the trail took some patience, but important because right on the edge of several residential properties.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🔁 Loop trail 2 mentions

“I'd suggest that you take the walk along the marsh and then walk back when you get to the road, it's nicer than walking the road section of the loop.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
