Confirmed from East River Preserve Fields' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about East River Preserve Fields
Great mix of woods trails and open field trails. There are lots of great options for hikes here. Also a cool little cemetery with some cool history to it. I believe this used to be an old logging facility so there are some nice flat and wide trails throughout the woods that used to be logging roads.
Beautiful space with variety of spaces including tidal spaces, open fields and wooded forest. Peaceful hiking with some wildlife to observe. Watch out for kids on electric bikes riding the trails, though they are posted as not being allowed.

“Overall the trails in the woods are mostly flat and clear, there are a few parts that get kind of rocky but nothing too bad.”
“Pretty big parking lot, could probably fit up to 25 cars.”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
