Confirmed from Hamilton Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Leafy neighborhood memorial park with sports fields & a small theater.

What runners say about Hamilton Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (435 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 4 mentions

“The park was clean and the people were friendly.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Beautiful grounds, a small park that packs in a pond with lots of ducks to feed, a ball park, soccer, home to Waterbury Athletics Complex & 7 Angels Theater.”

Great. Great little urban park with a variety of amenities and venues. Numerous ball fields, trails, picnic facilities and even a performing arts location. The park is nice, but some basic maintenance needs to be done to the tennis courts, benches, and permanent structures.

There are different sections to the park. There are the fields, the ice rink, the pond, the playground, and the back part of the park. My favorites are the pond and the back where its the most quiet. They have games sometimes in the back so those days it's not so relaxing. At night, it's the best.

I grew up in Waterbury since I was 4 years old and I tell you Hamilton Park and got it all and even though you can hear the highway they made a beautiful River road trail and it's just the nicest thing the room through the hills and there's little stone walls through the hills where I go hiking it's a beautiful thing…

Watch where you walk in certain locations. You'll either walk in Goose poop or mushy-watery grass. They do have a great playground for kids and enough swings for a couple of kids to swing on. There are also tennis courts as well and a baseball field. I can't recall if there's a basketball court there or not.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

⛰️ Hills / elevation 3 mentions

“They have wonderful hills for sledding, lots of space for picnics and activities, ponds with ducks and have lots of amusement all around a great park for you and family”
