Confirmed from Hammond Lakefront Park and Bird Sanctuary's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Beach for families and individuals as well as a bird trail and breakwalls.
What runners say about Hammond Lakefront Park and Bird Sanctuary
“Great park and well maintained beach - wouldn't go swimming on the Indiana side though on account of the industrial pollution right next door.”
“Beautiful nice walk on the bike trail.”
It was great. Beach was empty. It was hot. It was nice to take a walk. Picked some rocks for my great nephew. It's nice just to sit and watch the waves.
Narrow mile long wooded strip running parallel with Lake Michigan and industrial railroads. Kind of a unique oasis. $10.00 parking fee for out of staters 😞
Got eaten up by bugs because I forgot my spray but it was lovely! My children and I saw a peregrine while walking through the bird sanctuary and heard plenty of different calls!
