Confirmed from Harms Woods' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Harms Woods

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (769 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 8 mentions

“Beautiful wooded area with every provision you could need: picnic tables, paved walking trails, exploring forest trails, bathrooms, parking lot, covered areas, and more.”

We love coming here with the kids. There are picnic tables and things which is fine. But take a few steps off the trails and you really are in “the woods”.

★★★★★ — Charles , Jun 2022

My favorite place near Chicago for trail running!(north location) Several parking lots. Access bike trail too. Beautiful in the fall. Off trails muddy if it rained.

★★★★★ — Jessi , Oct 2022

Wonderful wooded area with bike paths, walking trails, and a universe of imagination for kids to frolic in.

★★★★★ — Shabnam , May 2021

I went there for a birthday party and the place was great. There were many dogs and people running around the forest. We also found a rock which I really liked. I hope someone claims it!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
