Confirmed from Harms Woods-North's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Wooded preserve with trails for hiking, biking and cross-country skiing.
What runners say about Harms Woods-North
“Clean, safe and beautiful park to BBQ enjoy a bike ride play volleyball soccer etc”
I come here year around to take walks or ride a bicycle in the summer. The park is well maintained which is important because it is heavily used. There are many bike riders year round and the public restrooms are just porta potties in the winter. In the summer there are lots of large groups having picnic events.
Nice local small section of a bigger part of connected forest preserves with very nice paved paths and better non paved trails that follow the Chicago River. We love it but with the trails were longer or more connected.
Nice place to go for bike riding or for a walk in the woods, is has many nice trails to choose from. Really recommend it.
One of the most lovely trails possible.....I saw deers twice...there are morning walkers n runners n cyclists ...though few in number The trail runs through thick forest and open from sunrise to sunset. There are no tickets. Entry is free for public

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
