Confirmed from Hartwell Town Forest's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiking & biking on trails under evergreen tree cover, plus gardens & a picnic area.
What runners say about Hartwell Town Forest
“Beautiful groomed trails, peaceful and well marked.”
Quiet hiking with tall pines and beech trees. The train has a lot of roots that would be a challenge for some strollers or non-surefooted people. Overall nice for the peaceful walk.
Very peaceful and beautiful trail. Parking spots are right in front! I had a great experience and a good exercise here. Tons of extremely tall pine trees and wild flowers. I will definitely be back again very soon. Picnic should be another great idea other than walking and running. Highly recommended!
Quiet, not over run with people, or flora. May change in the Spring and or summer.!
Very nice trail network here; you can really wander. Some trails can definitely be wet/muddy/impassible and it's always frustrating that you can't take the Blue trail from Hartwell all the way through to South Rd near FamCamp.

- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
