Confirmed from Minuteman Commuter Bikeway's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“a beautiful paved bikeway, 10-mile long, with many nice stops and going through 4 town centers, connecting many other trails.”

🌳 shaded & cool 3 mentions

“Nevertheless great shaded path taking you across ponds, marshes, trails, and connecting Cambridge, Arlington, Lexington and Bedford.”

Area is beautiful. From being out of state, I wish Maryland had more trails like this.

Nice 10 mile trail thru Bedford, Lexington, Arlington and Cambridge. Takes you into Alewife Subway Redline terminal and there are several branch trails from there. They plow in the winter! Lots of side trails if you want to get more miles.

★★★★★ — John , Oct 2024

Love this bike trail! With the new connector that just opened, it runs from the Boston aquarium, through Cambridge, Arlington, Lexington, and into Concord/Bedford. The closer to the city center, the more congested it is and slower you will need to ride and stop for lights.

★★★★★ — Jonathan , Jul 2023

Great cycleway. Go during the work day to avoid lots of commuters- walking, biking, running. Shady path most of the way. Beautiful every season.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
