Confirmed from Hell's Hollow's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Kid-friendly park for hiking, scenic vistas and a waterfall.
What runners say about Hell's Hollow
“The other end of McConnell mills is significantly more scenic but doesn't allow for a quick of a place.”
“Beautifully scenic location with an easy walk to some great waterfalls.”
Stopped by 2.5.2025 The trails were icey. The river and the waterfalls were spectacular and running not only with the ice melt but a heavy rain during the night. This waterfall will be super fun place to come for ALL the SEASONS. Winter is always a fun time with the ice formations and winter run off waters and snow ❄️.
Absolutely gorgeous! As you walk through the trails, there are tiny purple flowers on either side, making it almost magical! The waterfall was beautiful! Sage and Mango loved the hike (as always)! I would definitely recommend hiking here!
Trailhead for Slippery Rock Gorge Trail with ample parking and also a .5 mile easy hike to waterfall. I hiked the gorge trail with my dog about 4.5 miles toward Eckert bridge and then returned for 9 mile total (hiked from bridge end last time).
Very easy short 1/2 mile back to the falls. Several benches along the way if you want to sit and enjoy the scenery. Slippery Rock gorge trail is right here as well if you need a longer hike.
Trail conditions & character
“Love this waterfall perfect for the kids to play and explore with just ankle deep water and a short easy 1/2 mile walk back.”
“There are other trails to take besides the direct one to the falls, up to 7 miles+ to the mill Great place for kids and plenty of parking”
“A few people were encountered, unfortunately one couple was letting there dog run unleashed, against park rules, and caused some angst among some leashed dogs.”
“The trail starts pretty well compacted, but as you travel it, the trail narrows and there's rocks, roots, and lots of up and down travel.”
“It's my favorite hike but not for the weary as there are steep ascents and decents, some very narrow sections along steep drops, and many trip hazards.”
“The hike to the main waterfall is a very easy and almost flat .”
“Didn't see any wheelchairs so I wouldn't risk it unless its set up for offroad use.”
