Confirmed from Hempstead Harbor Woods Mountain Bike Trails' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park with kid-friendly hiking trails and boulders.
What runners say about Hempstead Harbor Woods Mountain Bike Trails
“extremely well maintained, but don't underestimate this one.”
By pure luck, I discovered this wonderful and impressive new trail this past weekend. I rode the Green-level/Quail Loop trail and had an absolute blast! Iwas really impressed with not only the ride, but the great care, consideration, and effort that was put into creating and maintaining it.
Quickly evolving into a new go to spot for me. It’s definitely come a lot way and has evolved/is evolving into a great place to ride. The trails range in skill level from beginner all the way to some seriously gnarly stuff to ride if you’re up for it. Over would recommend giving this place a ride.
These trails are awesome and offer a mid to easy level of riding to very technical rocky areas with also kool to see variety of huge boulders, old truck tires and hills spread around
Question - Are the trails close by any chance? What are the hours? . There was a big sign that said HEMPSTEAD HARBOR WOODS - Town o North Hempstead AERODROME no trespassing "Use by permit only. Is this the only entrance bc it was close with caution yellow signs all around it.This was today.
Trail conditions & character
“Technical, rocky, rooty, some sand hills, lots of twists and turns, well built wood features and log ramps.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
