Confirmed from Hendrix Creek Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Well-maintained paved and earth trails and an urban wetland attract wildlife and bird-watchers.
What runners say about Hendrix Creek Preserve
“It's always well-maintained and has a smooth pea-gravel walking surface.”
Fun little trail and park. Tucked just enough away for a small outdoor adventure for your family.
It's a good place to go walking and you can bring your dog! There's even a small play area which doesn't have much, but it's still fun for little ones.
Short relaxing trail, there is fwy noise tho. Trail and foot bridges are nicely maintained. Pet friendly. Plenty of available parking.
The Hendrix Preserve is one of the nicest trails in the city. It's always well-maintained and has a smooth pea-gravel walking surface. The one negative is the road noise. On one side of the trail is a trickling stream, but on the other side is Interstate 40.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
