Confirmed from Hensel Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Hensel Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (172 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 3 mentions

“It also has clean places to sit down and eat.”

This place has a really pleasant vibe. The trail starts at the 'City of Bryan' board on College Ave. It is narrow, but it is a very clear trail and there is no need to worry about getting lost, or off track. But feel free to explore! There is an opening where people walk their dogs or play around in the open.

Honestly, this is a great park which is a two minute drive from North Campus and is a place I often go to find peace and relaxation within nature. While the park is certainly not big, it is adequate and has an interesting dome area and a wide field for playing games or walking your dog.

I walk the nature trails everyday, it's an awesome work out and just beautiful scenery a long the trails. So peaceful...

This is a big park with fun trails and a little bamboo forest. There are few picnic tables and the parking lot needs some help. The play fort is small, but a lot of fun. There is plenty of room to run and play. Even enough room for an impromptu full size soccer game. There are trees for hammocks or climbing.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
