Confirmed from Heritage Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Basketball- and tennis-centered neighborhood park with playgrounds and a sledding hill, plus a lake and a dock.

What runners say about Heritage Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (99 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 3 mentions

“Very clean park, wheelchair accessible to everything except the dock.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“It's a nice playground with a view of a beautiful pond and tennis courts adjacent to it.”

I found Heritage Park when I was looking for a good place to park with easy access to Mallard Lake Trail and N. Central Dupage Trail. This small, shire-looking park was the perfect spot. The park leads right to the wooded areas of Mallard Lake where we found a couple miles of wooded trails off the beaten path.

Great park plenty of room for any kind of sport. Good play park for kids. Also good place to sit and take in the scenery. In the Summer there is 2 portapottys there tennis courts and basketball also. Walking paths with benches also.

★★★★★ — Lisa , Jan 2019

Small park with a pond, playground, and basketball court. The pond has a pier and there's some benches at various points around the pond. The park connects to a trail that leads to Mallard Lake and Hawk Hollow Forest Preserves.

★★★★★ — Jeremy , Feb 2026

I go to this park to play tennis because it was recently resurfaced. Knocking off a star because the garbage is usually overflowing. They have a park, nice walking path and a dock to walk on and see the lake.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
