Confirmed from Hermosa Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Beautiful place; you can walk or jogging in a healthy environment, feeded by leafy trees .”

🌳 shaded & cool 6 mentions

“Super nice little neighborhood park with sandy playground, lots of swings, a covered picnic area, and a curvy, paved, partially shady walking path with exercise stations.”

Great Park for running, next to Deer Canyon Elementary School very safe for kids, bathrooms and everything else clean most of the time, nice playground and baseball diamond but can use more trees.

This park is located on a tree lined street that provides shade all day from the blazing heat. We stayed all day because there is virtually no shade in this town. Plus, the park has a playground for kids, gazebos for picnics and lots of green grass for you to admire and your dog to do his business while on his walk.

Greetings from Northern Virginia! Hadn't been to this park in many years, on a previous family visit when my kids were young enough to want to go to the playground every day.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🚻 Restrooms 7 mentions

“There are bathrooms as well as drinking fountains, although we have never needed to use the bathrooms they appear clean from the outside.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadrestrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
