We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Heron Bay trail yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Heron Bay trail
“This is an easy, beautiful, scenic, wonderful, very enjoyable trail, in the middle of a parking nightmare.”
Amazing trail on beautiful marshlands with access to the water. The NIMBY neighborhood here has tried everything they can to privatize and restrict access to this public shore, including privatizing the trailhead parking (park at the circle on the way in).
This is an easy, beautiful, scenic, wonderful, very enjoyable trail, in the middle of a parking nightmare. The city of San Leandro should allow parking limited parking along the "Public Shoreline", and to hell with the HOA. It's not a Public Shoreline if no one can get to visit it, because they cannot park.
