Confirmed from Hidden Creek Nature Sanctuary's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
5.5 wooded acres offer paved trails, resting benches & native wildlife including a butterfly garden.
What runners say about Hidden Creek Nature Sanctuary
“This is a nice quiet park in an established neighborhood, and bumps up/connects to the Constitution Trail.”
If you are looking to get a long walk in, this isn't the place for you. But if you're looking to connect with nature and feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, this is exactly where you want to be. There are a short set of trails in this small nature sanctuary.
Pretty cool little spot to sit or walk around. Not very large. The picture is of Constitutional Trail and that, if I remember correctly, is park to the left. Also, I wanted to show off this amazing picture. Or so I think.
Delightful walk thru this tiny nature preserve. Many commemorative benches and serene bridges over the creek.
This site consists of two adjacent sections. The West side is mowed, has several benches, a couple picnic tables, and a paved pathway running throughout. There are several trees in this section. Many of those are beautiful specimens but obviously not native to this area.
Trail conditions & character
“This is a nice quiet park in an established neighborhood, and bumps up/connects to the Constitution Trail.”
“That being said, I have physical limitations but was able to walk the small paved loop with my walking stick.”
“The East side is more heavily wooded, with a pervasive undergrowth that appears to be in the grass family, but is not mowed and probably stands about 2 feet tall.”
“It should be noted that it easily gets muddy after rainfall, and there are many bugs in the summer, but it honestly is a great place to relax for a bit among the trees.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
