Confirmed from Highland Oaks Nature Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
302-acre park providing equestrian trails & open recreational space amid rolling hills & wetlands.
What runners say about Highland Oaks Nature Park
“I haven't been back to see it in almost 30 years but it is amazing to see how it has been turned into a nice, clean park that everyone gets to enjoy.”
“I prefer loops but this was a very nice park if you're trying to get your steps in and would like easy well marked paths.”
“I would never call us apart and that there are no play structures are soccer fields, which frankly I prefer when I'm trying to take a peaceful walk.”
Nice place for a short walk or hike or jog. I would never call us apart and that there are no play structures are soccer fields, which frankly I prefer when I'm trying to take a peaceful walk.
Wide trails, well maintained. Fishing pier is a gem! I love coming here with my dog Minnie.
New edit 8/31/23 The portopotty is horrendous at the main parking lot. Please, for all that is good, do not use it!!! Trails, archery open fields and even a portapotty. There's a PokeGym and 3 Pokestops you can get all from the parking lot. Parking lot is very bumpy pulling in, so go slow.
The dog, and I had a nice walk. I went online to buy a park pass, and I just want you to know, seniors get a free yearly pass. I've already received my pass, so fast, and easy.
Trail conditions & character

“Great for walking your dog, on leash, or joggers.”
“I prefer loops but this was a very nice park if you're trying to get your steps in and would like easy well marked paths.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
