Confirmed from Highland's Heron Rookery's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Nature preserve known for its wetlands, trails, and abundant wildlife.
What runners say about Highland's Heron Rookery
“Even in summer the foot traffic is low so it will be relatively quiet.”
Five-star based on it being a great place for birding. Otherwise, it would probably be four stars for lack of shelter. There is a paved parking lot with space for 30 or more vehicles. A paved walkway around the south and west sides of the rookery. No restrooms. No shelter. No picnic area. Cell service is excellent.
Great trail that runs right through the Rookery. Pretty cool place to relax your mind and spend some time.
The parking lot helps you drive there from anywhere. If you enjoy birdwatching, this place has eagles and owls, among others. If you walk along the path, you may witness a Blue Heron during the Spring. Just be aware to bring a good pair of walking shoes.
Really nice place to walk or bike around. Lots of wildlife , great place to take photos. There use to be lots of heron nests bit sadly they have been gone for some years now
