Confirmed from Hoffman Hills State Recreation Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hilly state park providing trails for hiking of varying difficulty as well as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
What runners say about Hoffman Hills State Recreation Area
“From the tower you can see a beautiful view which is worth the walk to it, although the trails are beautiful all in itself.”
I went alone. Planned to hike the 2 miles to the tower and ended up hiking 5 miles! Haha. There are many, many signs that have great details... I was just determined to take the HARDEST way or most difficult and ended up doing a couple of circles. Whoops. This place is beautiful, though.
This was such a nice place to go for a walk. Spent around 2 hrs to walk to the tower and back to the parking lot, taking our time and just enjoying nature. Fairly easy trail to walk, saw some people with dogs. They have nice benches on the trail for if you need a rest and I saw a covered patio area which was nice.
Very unique hiking area. I didn't realize there were so many trails and it turned out to be quite interesting and fun. Though they are pretty steep in some areas like up to the observation tower. I am afraid of heights but I did climb the observation tower which was pretty cool.
Very nice drive to the parking lot . The signage was good. They have a few picnic tables and a grill. The head rushers with the various trails you could hike on their. It look like they were very well groomed. Will definitely come back when I have more time.
