Confirmed from Holmes Run Stream Valley Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (195 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 7 mentions

“Very nice, well-maintained park that is larger than it appears from the entrance.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 7 mentions

“This is a natural area that – although picturesque – has been badly affected by the urbanization all around it.”

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

“Many little trails for easy walking.”

Lovely park with stream. Dog walking favorite. Many little trails for easy walking. Some were paved. Found first signs of Spring today : snow drops and crocus. Will come back again.

★★★★☆ — Connie , Mar 2022

This park provides excellent walking trails for every level of hiker. The trails are well maintained and a great distance from the stream. It’s not too busy and has different options to keep it interesting. The stream did rise due to recent storms which made a few paths blocked off by excessive flooding.

★★★★★ — Sarah , Oct 2021

Great for walks, gravel paths were well kept. LOTS of poison ivy! If you bring kids keep them aware of the plants.

★★★★☆ — Matthew , May 2017

This is a really nice park, providing a pleasant woodsy, streamside walking, running, or biking experience. The path is well-paved and easy to traverse, with a nice variety of landscapes and flora. The one drawback is the smell of the water, which can at times have a very strong "sewer-like" odor.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

“The stream looks different from when I was a kid (eroded banks because people walked too close to the edge, disrupting roots and causing soil to fall).”
