Confirmed from Homestead Metro Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
44-acre park with outdoor & water activities, train-station replica, caboose & 3/4-mile paved trail.
What runners say about Homestead Metro Park
“It's always clean and makes for a great place to take pictures before any dance.”
“Went to see a friend for her wedding dress shopping and we came to this park after for pictures and my god it was gorgeous!”
Very nice park. Lots of things for kids and adults to do / play on. Not a dramatically long set of trails, but it is linked to the Heritage Rail-Trail. Some exercise equipment for adults too. There is a railroad car, a good sized railroad station, and a smaller "whistle stop" station, along with a covered bridge.
Although Homestead Metro Park isn't as big in area as the other Metro Parks, it somehow fits in something for everyone and feels like a larger park.It is also well maintained, scenic, and very popular.
Great playgrounds at this location. Lovely views and some winding trails for walking. You can also pick up the trail at this park if you want to go for a longer walk/run/bike/etc.
A quiet, beautiful, and peaceful park, perfect for leisurely walks and a safe place for children to play

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
