Confirmed from Horse Heaven Hills Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Horse Heaven Hills Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (145 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 8 mentions

“1) it’s well maintained by Kennewick as well as the people who enjoy the park.”

🐕 dog-walking favorite 3 mentions

“2) it’s a dog lover’s dream (complete with dog waste bags and lots of garbage bags).”

By far one of the coolest parks in the tri. Very big with plenty of shade and benches.

★★★★★ — Tony , Oct 2022

Very beautiful park, although my grandson had his T Ball practice there, and we were running into a lot of dog poop. So maybe they could add doggie bags and garbage that might help with that.

★★★★☆ — Mellonie , Jul 2025

We stopped here to walk the dogs it was very clean and well kept but it's right on the main road so if you have dogs that are not fully trained or like to let off the leash and run free this might not be a good fit because of traffic. I hope this helps. have a great day

★★★★☆ — Bo , Nov 2023

Nice park for a walk, playing soccer, baseball, or letting the kids play on the jungle gym. Lots of wide open spaces, and trees here and there for shade. My only issue is with the trail. It gets pretty rough in some spots.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadrestrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
