Confirmed from Horseshoe Mill - Buzzards Bay Coalition's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Trails, some along a river, wind through this nature preserve, which is good for families.
What runners say about Horseshoe Mill - Buzzards Bay Coalition
“Beautiful, peaceful, quiet, easy achieveable paths for all.”
“Beautiful, peaceful, quiet, easy achieveable paths for all.”
A lovely surprise we selected last minute when we were in the area on a sunny day. It’s near some large stores, but somehow the trails still feel really secluded and well cared for.
I just have to say almost always when a town gets hold of a piece of land by beautifying it they corrupt it. In this case they did an awesome job in magnifying the beauty of the area ! I can't say enough about the natural beauty of this little gemstone ! Take a hike ! I mean that in a good way !
Very nice park. Hidden at the end of Station Rd. Nice, easy trails. Several viewing areas. Informative signs in several spots, telling the history of the area. Very beautiful !!!
Nice walk they have a couple of paths to choose from that wrap around the river on either side. Plenty of parking and dog friendly.
Trail conditions & character
“Beautiful, peaceful, quiet, easy achieveable paths for all.”
“Was looking for a well trodden or maintained hiking path to minimize ticks cause they’re so out of control on woodsy walks… dog picked up 3 anyway.”
“Beware, a portion of the dirt road leading up to the pond parking area is in bad shape with numerous deep pot holes.”
“Beautiful, peaceful, quiet, easy achieveable paths for all.”
“Nice little walking paths but no clear routes or markers.”
“I am not in good shape, so some of the trail is rocky and uneven, so you have to be careful, but it is well maintained”
Plan your run at Horseshoe Mill - Buzzards Bay Coalition
The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
