Confirmed from Hudson Pointe Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Nature preserve offering easy walking trails with river views, and wildlife observation opportunities.
What runners say about Hudson Pointe Nature Preserve
“If you're looking for a short, scenic walk, Hudson Pointe is a great place to go.”
“Wide trails well marked thru the forest with access to the river.”
“Fun, gorgeous and easy hike.”
Really fun hike just months away from West Mountain. Long enough where you get to see a lot of cool things, short enough that my 6 year old could do it. Pro tip: There are some wooden foot brushes over the marsh land by the river that can flood over slightly and freeze during the winter (see photos).
Great nature trail, offers many different views of the hudson. Its an easy loop trail with some hidden beaches.
Hudson Pointe Nature Preserve is a great place to hike along the banks of the Hudson River. Altogether there are about three miles of trails here. The trails are wide, well marked, scenic, and easy to follow. There are many interpretive signs along the trails to help guide you along.
Wonderful bit of land set aside by the town of Queensbury that has you walking in the woods near the Hudson River. You start out up on the Bluffs & have the option of going down to the river itself.
Trail conditions & character
“Love the trails - nice views of the Hudson River - trails aren't long - nice for a morning hike - different spots where you can swim if you want in the summer”
“The preserve is dog-friendly but if you have a shy or nervous dog, be aware that while all the dogs I came across were well-behaved and friendly, none of them were leashed.”
“Overall, none of the trails are very steep and this is a moderate hike with rewarding scenery.”
“No restrooms however (maybe a portapotty during warmer months).”
“The parking lot has room for about 10 vehicles.”
“Wide trails well marked thru the forest with access to the river.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceBoardwalk — flat and scenic, and slick when wet, so watch your footing
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
