Confirmed from IDNP Miller Woods' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Wow great hike to the beach and back! Beautiful old oak savannas and small lagoons, and one really large lagoon - who knew! Then … the beach! Fantastic all year round. We then stopped at 18th St Brewery for a perfect finish to an excellent day hiking

The Douglas Center will be opening today and can't wait. Great place to hike and get your kids outside enjoying nature.

★★★★★ — Kammi , Apr 2023

I absolutely love this place. It’s so peaceful and absolutely gorgeous. It has a 1.6 mile path that leads straight to the beach and it definitely gets your heart pumping with all the hills going up and down. Super good workout!

★★★★★ — Madz , May 2025

An outstanding trail in the Indiana Dunes National Park. It includes an oak savannah, lagoons, mirram grass and spectacular views of Lake Michigan as a reward at the end of the trail. There is extensive plant diversity and bird watching. Facilities are available. Parking is free. Educational programs are available.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
