Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Best day ever! I had such a great time walking up the mountain. The view was breathtaking. I don’t do a lot of hiking but I do walk at the park sometimes and I’d say this is somewhat beginner friendly. Just bring some water and have on the right sneakers because there’s lots of rocky terrain.

After reading and seeing pictures, I have wanted to go here for a few yrs now. It is not dog friendly, one of the main reasons I had not been yet. I had company from out of town and it was supposed to rain, so chose this as a quick hike. We chose the out and back trail not the loop because of impending rain.

Took the long trail, 9.4 miles with 1,550 vertical feet. Can be fairly strenuous. Nice to feel a bit secluded yet see enough people on the trail. Nice reward at the top with the rock outcroppings and viewing deck with beautiful views of the northwest and north Georgia mountains!

Great hike. A bit on the long side though. Beautiful viewing area with a very persistent squirel that didn't seem to be afraid of people. Cool fairy village section.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
