We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Interior Greenbelt yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Interior Greenbelt

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (147 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“Beautiful hiking trails that instantly whisk you away from the city, like another world, and most don't even know it exists.”

🪧 well-marked 2 mentions

“It is a wonderful walk, well marked, and easy to get to with Muni.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“A peaceful green belt in the middle of the city, near the UCSF parnassus campus.”

One of the wildest areas of San Francisco, you'll encounter diverse vegetation and some truly off-the-beaten track hiking trails here. To get a sense of the area, one suggested walking tour would be to start well below the area at the Laguna Honda Reservoir.

★★★★★ — Music , Mar 2020

It’s truly the journey not the destination that’s the beauty of this wonderful urban hike. Gorgeous path winding through a large cathedral like eucalyptus grove. The trees are covered in dark green vines, like huge furry pillars. Near sunset and dawn, you can hear the chorus of all kinds of birds.

★★★★★ — Mu , Mar 2020

Especially during shutdown, it was refreshing to walk through the lush greenery, then, near the top, to feel the breeze. It was fun to see different toys placed on top of stumps or within little spaces.

★★★★★ — Sage , May 2020

Outstanding little park area with lush foliage and well kept trials for hiking and riding. And having an opportunity to help keep those trails nice was a plus too.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
