Confirmed from Iron Horse Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“Some stunning views can be had of Contra Costa counties and inland central Alameda while walking, cycling or horseback riding (if you have a horse that is; this one is B.”

One of the finest walking/cycling trails running thru Walnut Creek/Pleasant Hill neighborhoods. Always peaceful and hops over busy roads. If you are in the area and would like to stroll for some stress detoxing. Look no further!

Nature lovers will enjoy this trek along what was once a railway track through California’s East Bay area. Some stunning views can be had of Contra Costa counties and inland central Alameda while walking, cycling or horseback riding (if you have a horse that is; this one is B.Y.O.) along the track.

The arch of trees will bring you awe. Walk and smile at their beauty. ❤️ This photo is taken on the section adjacent to San Ramon Valley High School, near downtown Danville. Lovely.

This is a good trail for running, walking the pets cycling and taking an easy stroll. This starts from Concord and goes down south around 24 miles one way. It also connects with other trails like De Anza regional trail etc. . It’s good to run in these trails in the morning since there will be a lot of shade.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
