Confirmed from Jackson Road Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Jackson Road Trailhead
“This is a beautiful trail where Bowman's root and daisies grows plentiful, and butterflies fluttered about the trail next to me the whole time.”
“It was so peaceful and relaxing.”
Hiked Jackson Road trailhead to Pixley Knob trail head and back yesterday. One review mentioned hiking sticks. Great idea! Another review mentioned pot growing everywhere. None found, glad I brought my own. Parking was perfect, the trail was wonderful. A great workout.
Just so you know, there's no "pot" growing on this trail. It's called Indian Physic or Bowman's Root. The leaves are long and narrow and serrated and bear a striking resemblance to marijuana leaves, but as you can see from my pictures, the flowers are white and dainty and star like and very different from 'flowers'…
Awesome section of the KT that offers many alternative routes in directions that vary from the main trail. Beautiful peaceful country.
Great area to explore during the fall or Winter months traveling to round knob. The trail will pass areas cleared out by tornadoes leaving vistic views for miles
Trail conditions & character
“This is a beautiful trail where Bowman's root and daisies grows plentiful, and butterflies fluttered about the trail next to me the whole time.”
“The trail behind the signs in the parking area goes straight down pretty much the whole time, so be prepared for an uphill climb if you go back the way you came.”
“Entry road was too muddy to drive through but we're able to hike in.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
