Confirmed from James Wood Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about James Wood Trail
Lovely clean soft & hard not difficult terrain fun for dogs and trekking
This is an easy hike with just enough to keep the walker/ hiker interested. Some of the trail goes over the path that I used to take when walking to Consolidated School. This trail gives you some water views of Kennebunkport and history - the 1947 fire wall for instance. A good walk if you are in a group or with kids.
My wife and I are novice hikers and we found this path enjoyable and fun. There was an area about midway on the path that was confusing because a large fallen tree blocked the path, yet had a green blaze just path it.
Great hike very near the town center. There are markers along the trail but we did get lost for a few moments due to snow making it unclear where the path was. A few trees had fallen here and there but it looks like someone is making an effort to keep the trail maintained.
