Confirmed from Jean McGraw Memorial Nature Center's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

A very nice but small Nature Preserve in an area that is seeing increased construction. A small ( 3-4 vehicles max ), well-maintained parking area leads to a 1/4 mile wood-chip loop trail with several short spurs. One of these spurs lead to the Des Plaines River. Hunting, hiking and fishing are allowed.

Short trail off the side of the freeway. Just a nice place to walk around. You’ll hear the cars off the freeway though. If you were expecting more, there isn’t.

★★★★★ — Jason , Jun 2021

While small, this is a nice little preserve. The trail is flat and almost anyone could do the entire thing in 5 minutes. There is also a boat launch area and two trails to fishing spots. The biggest con is the noise from the nearby highway.

★★★★☆ — Andrew , May 2020

Short trail right off the frontage road. After days of rain, the wild mushrooms are abundant. Looking forward to returning during different seasons to see how nature evolves.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
