Confirmed from Juniper Dunes Wilderness' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Natural preserve with wind-shaped sand dunes, wildflowers, and wildlife, plus camping and hiking.
What runners say about Juniper Dunes Wilderness
“This is a super peaceful place and one of my favorite quiet spots in the Tri-City area.”
This wilderness is a great place to get "lost". Even though you are close to town at dusk climb up on a dune and find out how small we really are. Getting there: It is a long, slow, bouncy drive through the ORV park.
The back entrance to the dunes has you entering through someone else's property. There is a sign giving you instructions on when you can enter through the year. Once you take a little hike, you're right into the dunes. It is a cool little place to hike, enjoy the scenery, and enjoy nothing but the sounds of nature.
I personally love hiking and the place was great to get away from crowds, but need to have map of trailhead for visitors and need a better access to the area
Best sand dunes in the state for hiking and it’s protected from vehicles.
