Confirmed from Kawainui Marsh Bike Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

2022 update: Porta-johns now gone. :( ----- Cute park with parking and porta-johns. It's the entrance to Kawainui Marsh Trail. Great, easy, mostly paved (some areas are gravel) and pretty flat hike along Maunawili Stream. Ok to bring leashed dogs, per DLNR signage. Ducks, marshland, and an array of frogs(?).

Lovely place. Nice to walk/jog/bike,stroller friendly, easy for toddlers and kids to walk, beautiful views and lots to see. See what different animals you can see each time- there's engaged birds there! Don't feed the animals. Dogs only on leash!!! No bathrooms no shade.

What a beautiful place to walk/bike/run . Very well taken care of, casual location and very easy trail for all ages. Large enough if you need a little distance but short enough for little kids (like I have). If you need a chill walk on a Sunday afternoon, try this trail.

★★★★★ — Jordan , Feb 2021

Beautiful flat trail along the marsh and canal. There's no shade but it's a lovely flat paved walk in nature. My kids also love to fish in the marsh along the trail.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
