Confirmed from Knob Noster State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Knob Noster State Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (1,051 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 12 mentions

“The showers where spacious and the water was hot with a fairly clean bath house minus some dust build up very clean for a camp ground bath house.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 5 mentions

“We use a tent and not an RV, but be aware there are a ton of RV's and the cacophony of AC units running can be a distraction from the quiet of camping.”

The camping areas were well-maintained except for the rowdy raccoons. Somebody actually complained of a left a banana out and it disappeared. Lol. Campsites were pretty level and they weren't squished in. People were pretty quiet it was very shaded.

Great trails at Knob Noster State Park. There's like 8 trails, most under 2 miles. Very clean. The bathrooms are clean, portable potty like. Plenty of parking. We hiked the Hawk Nest Trail. ( follow main road , turn left to Buteo Lake -across from campground). The trail was nice.

Camping in Knob Noster is always fun as long as wildlife doesn't scare you as they love to join you!! I have been an avid camper since I was in diapers and still love it and Knob is one of the ones I camp regularly!!

This place has tons of fishing locations, biking/hiking trails, camping locations, lakes, and a lot of wild life to see! hiking trails range from 1.5 to 5.5 miles from what i saw there. This place is great to bring your family for fishing or the playgrounds.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🐕 Dog-friendly 7 mentions

“Dog owners can also have their dogs however they must be leashed.”

“Only complaint I have is that they need a bathroom and shower house in the tent camping area instead of having to walk a mile everytime you have to use it!”
