Confirmed from Kovach Family Nature Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Easy double loop trails done with small children on less than 40 minutes with great views of mountains and interpretive signs. Good introduction to AZ plants and scenery. Highly recommend for quick mostly flat walk.

What a trek. Great walk, easy with no major or technical parts and imho even for kids. Well accessible trail, with relatively few people. Visited in march in ideal weather, it could very well be brutal during summer with heat. Drink and take with you plenty of water. Great cactuses, views and nature.

This is one of the best interpretive nature trails in the Phoenix/Scottsdale AZ. This one is very clean and well-paved with a concrete 0.5 mile loop. The loop is also accessible and it looks very aesthetically pleasing too.

★★★★★ — A , Apr 2019

We drove here from downtown phoenix with our 4 year old daughter. What an absolutely beautiful place! It started near the parking lot when we saw a road runner sneaking off to the bushes. Parking was plentiful and we were able to park close to the trailhead.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
