Confirmed from Lake Alma State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

We stayed in the campground for about one week. Our site was level with full hook-ups. It was quiet during the week, but busy on the weekend. We hiked the different trails available (4 miles total). Lake alma is a pretty lake surrounded by a beautiful forest and fresh water creeks.

Very quiet and beautiful. Campsites are a good size. The campground is a bit on the small side. We had a very nice hike on the trails. My only complaint would be that there wasn't anyone in the office during the weekend. We're not sure why there wasn't.

We spent two nights tent camping at Lake Alma State Park Campground. We did enjoy the campgrounds however the spots are close together, thankful we booked next to friends. Each campsite has a picnic table and a campfire ring with a flip grate attached. We were near the shower house/restrooms...

Beautiful park! The hiking trails are fun, but be warned that many are meant for experienced hikers. There are both outhouse type bathrooms as well as full bathrooms with showers. Campsite have electricity and water hook-ups as well as there being a fill station for water tanks. This park has wifi.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
