Confirmed from Lake Catherine State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Absolute gem. Helpful and friendly at the visitors center. Kayak kiosk was easy to use. Beautiful paddle to the Fall River Falls. Then we hiked the Fall River Falls trail. It was 2 miles. If you hike away from the falls first then it’s a moderate hike. The first 1/3 of a mile or so you crisscross a beautiful stream.

Gorgeous lake and super nice campground! We were lucky enough to get Site 58, right on the water and it may very well be the best site in the campground. Each site has a nice long level paved pad, a picnic table on a paved pad, a stationary lantern hook, a graveled tent pad, water, sewer, electric and a fire ring you…

Absolutely in love with this place. We hiked to the waterfall, Camped two days in the walk in primitive tent site where Fire pits, grill and picnic tables are set up. Public bathrooms and bath houses are available. They have horse back riding and kayak rentals. Family friendly.

Very popular destination near Hot Springs. Beautiful campground. Be aware some of the spots are extremely tight for RV camping. We have a bumper tow, not a beast, and the spot we were in was inches from trees on both sides. I had to position it so our 1 slide out was between the trees.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
