Confirmed from Lake Wichita Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
This 234-acre park features a hiking/biking trail, picnic shelters, a playground, sports & more.
What runners say about Lake Wichita Park
“Although the lake and most lakes are drying up Lake Wichita is beautiful in its own right.”
Although the lake and most lakes are drying up Lake Wichita is beautiful in its own right. A lake, a trail, a boat dock is exactly that, one can see it for the beauty or they can see it for what they are. I choose beauty.
You want to climb the biggest hill in town? This is the place. There is also a nice walking/biking trail by the lake, a pavilion, a playground, some soccer fields, a bike repair station... basically all the stuff you need in a park!
Cool spot with variety and different open points of space. If you like to run there is this killer hill!!!
Great park for most of your "park" needs. Playground for the kiddos, running/biking trail. Boat pier. "Beachy" shore (though i would not recommend getting in the water, least you develop some infection). Restroom in a not-so-private little hut. Nice, big, seating/party section for your party picnic needs.

“Also a safe, clean and pet friendly park by the lake to enjoy with family.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadrestrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
