Confirmed from Leaders Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Large forested space with a community garden & a series of single-track mountain biking trails.
What runners say about Leaders Park
A winding of trails i wasn't aware of in Sioux Falls! Bike, trail run or walk these trails and enjoy the many many trees and thrilling obstacles, bends and hills. I walk, run and ruck these trails. We saw lots of squirrels, an ancient cottonwood and unique tree frames throughout.
This is a great place for a few quick laps. The climbs are technical, with a few steep switchbacks. My gravel bike was great for climbing, but suspension would speed up the descents. As a visitor to SF, I recommend this hidden gem. Trails were dry and mostly trimmed back.
Awesome place!! If you arent an expert who has ridden mountain biking trails in Colorado and feels the need to compare the two... this place is for you! Its a pretty rad bike riding trail that will give you an adrenaline rush!
Leader's Park is beautiful! It's a hidden gem not a lot of people know about. There are three trails you can take, easy, moderate, and difficult. There is a map at the start of the trail which describes these trails.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
