Confirmed from Legacy Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Riverfront space featuring paved trails, grassy paths, plus picnic spots and clean bathrooms.
What runners say about Legacy Park
“It was a nice place to get on the bike trail and had clean bathrooms.”
This is a very nice Park. I added some photos of their recent flooding, and the bridge that was washed out a few years back seems to have held up to the flooding. Looking forward to walking through there again soon when the bridge is reopened.
Nice winding paved trail with a few bridges and plenty of creek views.
We had a lovely walk on the paved trail and the sound of running water by the trail was very pleasant. I appreciate the full map showing the full length of the trail that goes around Sioux Falls. It looks to be about 20 miles so it might be great for a bike ride.
The trails are paved and everything is kept up well. There are several tables/benches with overhangs. Very nice public restroom building, also kept up and clean. Every sioux falls park I've been to has been very nice and enjoyable and clean.

“The part I found the most neat was the bike repair station by the bathrooms.”
“We had a lovely walk on the paved trail and the sound of running water by the trail was very pleasant.”
“Pretty sure this is going to become my new go-to place for walking with my dog.”
“With the trails along the creek you have a lovely view of nature as well as the ability to get off into some grassy trails for an even more peaceful experience.”
“New parking lot is twice the size and much easier to get in and out of.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
