Confirmed from Libby Hill Forest Trails' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Libby Hill Forest Trails

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (49 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“So much to see, and I'm betting spring/ summer time is beautiful.”

🪧 well-marked 7 mentions

“Well marked trails even in the winter time but can still be a bit confusing as it’s a large trail system but you’ll always find your way back.”

Great walk even on snow covered trails. Only did a few of the trails and looped back. Will be back to check out more another time. Lots of animal tracks and activity.

What a great find! Beautiful trails with gentle ups & downs. One of, if not the best marked trails we’ve been on - National Parks, State Parks, anywhere. Maps stapled to trees where 2 trails come together and plenty of blazes. We heard then saw an Osprey, Red-eyed Vireo, Chickadee, Mourning Dove, and Chipping Sparrow.

We love Libby Hills! Well marked trails even in the winter time but can still be a bit confusing as it’s a large trail system but you’ll always find your way back. There is no hunting here and dogs are supposed to be on leash. In the spring/summer months it is very buggy but in the winter time it’s perfect.

Great hidden gem in the heart of Gray! Lots of trails, well marked, with variable terrain. Trails crisscross and intersect on numerous locations, allowing for as short or as long a walk as desired. Remnants of an old foundation and stone wall add to the charm!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
