Confirmed from Lighthouse Field State Beach's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Iconic spot with a lighthouse offers a variety of vistas & pathways for dog walking & strolling.
What runners say about Lighthouse Field State Beach
“Friendly people, well cared for dogs, clean beach.”
“Lighthouse Field State Park (often called Lighthouse Field State Beach) is a stunning, multi-faceted coastal park in Santa Cruz, California.”
We love this off leash dog beach. A few things to be aware of. - There are steep stairs to climb to get in and out. Don't try to cart too much stuff and think about any mobility issues before you come. -The nearest bathroom is up the stairs and in the parking lot.
This is a gorgeous little lighthouse located in Santa Cruz, which also houses the surfing museum. You can see surfers from the surfing school trying to catch the waves. While you can easily drive there, I would recommend walking along a trail, that meanders along the coast and gives you beautiful views of the ocean.
If you’re looking for a quintessential California coastal experience, the lighthouse at Field State Beach in Santa Cruz is a must-visit. This spot blends history, stunning ocean views, and the unmistakable charm of the Pacific.
We are from the east coast and I don’t know of any dog beaches there. This was our first time at a dog beach and my dogs were in heaven! There’s only one way in/out which is some stairs so I felt my dogs were safe to run around. All the dogs there were very well behaved and having the time of their lives.
